Marla M. Klein, M.D.

Dr. Marla Klein is a Board-Certified Dermatologist with over 22 years of experience. She graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of California, Davis and completed an Internal Medicine internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California followed by an intense 3-year dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan. During her senior year, she had the honor to serve as a chief resident. In 1997, she moved to Portland Oregon to begin her career in private practice dermatology, and has worked full time caring for patients this whole time since.

While in her residency program, Dr. Marla Klein was introduced to cosmetic dermatology which at that time included Botox, collagen, chemical peels and lasers. In 1998 she learned how to perform liposuction and fat transfers. Dr. Klein did liposuction for many years, and understands the nuances in sculpting the tissue of the body.

Fun facts: Tumescent liposuction was invented by dermatologist Jeffrey Klein, and Dr. Marla Klein was trained in tumescent liposuction by Jeffrey Klein himself in California. There is no kinship between Jeffrey and Marla. Tumescent liposuction is the local anesthetic version of liposuction, whereas the original form of liposuction was invented by a gynecologist.

In 2002, Dr. Marla Klein began her own private dermatology practice called Klein Dermatology & Associates in Tigard, aka KDA. She moved her practice in 2015 to Lake Oswego.

Well known for her expertise in both medical and cosmetic dermatology, during the years 2002 -2012, Dr. Marla Klein served as a physician instructor for both Allergan and Sanofi in teaching techniques of BOTOX, hyaluronic acid fillers and Sculptra.

Dr. Klein has received many “Top Doctor” Awards. She appeared on the international commercial for Vaniqa for over ten years and has made guest appearances on AM Northwest. She belongs to the following medical organizations: American Medical Association, American Academy of Dermatology, Oregon Dermatology Association, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the Pacific Dermatologic Association.

Dr. Klein by nature is very cautious, and she is not the first person to jump on each new procedure as it comes out. She waits for new technologies to prove themselves. As a solo practitioner and a businesswoman, she has to make careful investments that will be good for her patients’ and her business’ well-being. In 2017, Dr. Klein invested in a CoolSculpting® machine and was so overwhelmingly impressed by the results, she quickly bought a second machine and developed a special place for it. She believes if you are going to do something, you should do it right.

The CoolSculpting® procedure is non-surgical. It does require the patient to stay still in one position for one to four hours at a time, and for this she wanted to create the most comfortable environment possible. This is what lead to the beautiful luxurious sanctuary we call the KDA CoolSculpting® Suite.

Dr. Klein no longer does liposuction, and there is no reason to! CoolSculpting® is a fantastic safe, reliable and versatile way to sculpt the body without surgery or incisions.
